In the last few years I have been given copies of family photos without any names on the back and which I have not been able to give names to as yet. This photo was amongst my grandfather Duncan's photographs and the soldier who is in the ninth lancers has the look of my grandfather, although not him. Who is he?	The above photograph was amongst the collection at Easthaven and probably means that it is either a Duncan or a Herd. My guess is that it is a Herd, and quite possibly James Herd (1831-1900) but I have no way of proving it and I have no idea what medal he is wearing. Who is he?
The above picture was also from the photographs at Easthaven and is almost certainly one of my grandfather's many brothers. But which one?	Yet another photograph from Easthaven, near Carnoustie, and almost certainly of the same person as the photograph to the left. Which brother of John Duncan is this?
