Unknown 4x Great Grandfather Unknown Ann Stuart From Son Alexander's Death Cert.

The surname Kerr is pronounced 'Carr' and some of the early spellings in Old Parish registers etc are Carr.

There is some doubt as to the correctness of the information given on Alexander Kerr's death certificate as the informant was a man who worked with Alexander. I have never been able to find a birth for Alexander, although some Arbirlot records were lost, or a marriage for his supposed parents.

The 1851 census for Scotland has Alexander's place of birth as Arbirlot and since that was information from his mouth we can assume that it is correct. Alexander married Jessie Low in Craig on the 7th of December 1838.

John and Jessie lost their first two children to illness and would have another six children together. Isabella Kerr (known as Bell Carr) was the seventh child.
