Ann Crabb

Marriage - International Genealogical Index.

James Beattie married Ann Crabb in Arbuthnott, Kincardine on the 7th of July 1782. They had at least 3 children. At least one child of Ann Crabb and James Beattie does not appear in the IGI and I only found another daughter called Margaret by chance when I was at the National Archives in Edinburgh looking for family on a different part of my tree. It is unknown where James and Ann were married.

James Beattie junior was born in Garvock, Kincardine on the 20th of June 1788. Firstly James married Ann Bell in 1812 and she must have died at a young age as James then married Jane Mathers on the 4th of June 1814 in Brechin. The Beattie's for the most part then seemed to settle in Angus with different branches in Brechin, Edzell, Aberlemno and Forfar.

William Beattie was an agricultural labourer for most of his working days but in old age was a mole catcher. William married Mary Wilkie probably in Kirriemuir, Angus. Some of the Kirriemuir records were lost.

Margaret Beattie (pictured) married David Bruce in Brechin and ended up working in Denley House in Arbroath. The couple moved to Arbroath a little time after they were married.
