Gellie appears to be quite a rare name in Scotland. Most Gellie's seem to be from the north of Scotland although there were some in the Montrose and Dundee areas as well as my branch in the Carnoustie area.
Betsy did appear on the 1841 census for Scotland but when Easthaven was hit by serious illness in 1848 and 1849 the Gellie surname was all but wiped out at Easthaven. Reportedly in 1849 it was Cholera which wiped out a good percentage of the locals at Easthaven and Betty is listed as being buried at that time and thus probably died of the disease.
The burial information was discovered in the Panbrde Churchyard Register which was published by Tay Valley Family History Society from a register kept by the church gravedigger Andrew Anderson.
